Tottenham boss Antonio Conte ‘wants to bring Gareth Bale back in shock transfer after rejecting Hazard from Real Madrid’

ANTONIO CONTE wants to bring Gareth Bale back to Tottenham for a third spell, according to reports.

The Italian was reportedly offered Chelsea legend Eden Hazard by Daniel Levy but he said no because ‘he’s not a very hard worker’.

Tottenham want to re-sign Gareth Bale for a third time
It comes after Antonio Conte refused the chance to rescue Hazard from his Real Madrid misery

Bale performed reasonably during his loan spell back at Tottenham last season but it was not enough to earn himself a place back in Real’s starting XI now he is back.

The Welshman’s contract expires in the summer but there is a chance Spurs may move in January, according to Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda.

He told El Chiringuito TV: “Daniel Levy would like to take a Real Madrid player who is always injured.

“He wanted to sign Eden Hazard, but Conte has told him ‘no’ because he knows him from when he trained at Chelsea and says that he has little intensity and that he is not a very hard worker.

“The most striking thing is the player that Conte has asked Levy to take him to London. He is Gareth Bale.

“Bale ends his contract at the end of the season, but in winter he would not be free.”

Bale, 32, scored 16 goals and provided three assists in 34 games for Tottenham during 2020-21.

And despite hope he may break back in to Los Blancos’ team under Carlo Ancelotti this season, he has appeared just three times and scored once.

As a result, his Real career looks over.

Bale has achieved phenomenal things at the Bernabeu since his £85million move from Spurs in September 2013.

He won the Champions League four times as well as two LaLigas and a Copa del Rey.

But his Blancos team-mate Hazard, 30 has not been such a success.

The Belgian was signed from Chelsea in a £130m move in the summer of 2019 but injuries have seen him struggle for game time and form.

He has managed just five goals and nine assists in 54 matches in more than two years in the Spanish capital.

Conte worked with Hazard during his own time as Chelsea manager and is said to have been put off by his work rate and would rather a reunion with Bale as he looks to transform the Lilywhites’ fortunes.
