Tributes to Construction Worker Who Died at Everton’s New Stadium

Tributes have poured in for a beloved construction worker who tragically lost his life while working at Everton's new stadium in Liverpool, Merseyside.

Tragic Accident

Michael Jones, 26, suffered fatal head injuries on the construction site of Bramley Moore Dock. Despite being rushed to the hospital, his life couldn't be saved.

Fond Farewell

In a statement released by Merseyside Police, Michael's grieving family expressed their gratitude for the ongoing support and spoke of their immense sadness. Michael was described as a lifelong Everton fan who took great pride in working on the new stadium. The family also thanked the NHS staff and Michael's colleagues for their efforts, acknowledging that he will be deeply missed.

Inquiry Underway

The authorities were alerted to the incident at Bramley Moore dock at approximately 1 pm yesterday. The Health and Safety Executive has launched an investigation into the tragic incident, with specific emphasis on the involvement of heavy machinery. Everton Football Club also released a statement expressing their heartbreak and confirmed that the stadium contractor, Laing O'Rourke, is cooperating with the police and the Health and Safety Executive.
