MANCHESTER UNITED legend Robin van Persie says “stability” was the reason behind rejecting Erik ten Hag’s coaching offer at the club.
Ten Hag got right to work with United straight after finishing the season with Ajax.

And one of his top priorities is building a strong supporting staff to help aid his Red Devils project.
A number of Dutch Man Utd legends were listed as targets for a coaching role.
The Times listed Van Persie, Jaap Stam and Ruud van Nistelrooy.
But Van Persie, who scored 30 goals in United’s last title-winning season back in 2012/13, has turned down a move back to England as he wants his kids Shaqueel and Dina to have “stability” after years of moving.

Shaqueel, 15, is making a name for himself in Dutch side Feyenoord’s youth ranks.
He has been making good progress as a goalscorer.
Speaking to Life After Football, Van Persie said: “My son and daughter are important right now.
“The fact that they have both found their passion is great. A hobby is nice, but you hope that they really find a passion.

“Dina succeeded in doing that with horse riding, she’s totally into it, and Shaqueel has the same thing with soccer.
“My wife, Bouchra, is developing all her talents with our projects and that’s great to see. We’re enjoying ourselves together.”
Van Persie added: “In London, when I played at Arsenal, we moved five times.
“We also lived in Manchester and Istanbul. All in all, we were away for almost fourteen years.
“But then we thought ‘what’s good for the kids now?’ and felt a little stability would be nice.”
