FROM baby-faced assassin to middle-aged machine Gunnar…

Manchester United chief Ole Gunnar Solskjaer proved he can still rattle the net lethally – 13 years after exiting Old Trafford as one of their most famed finishers ever.

And in it goes – Ole Gunnar Solskjaer shows he is still as sharp in front of goal as he was during 11 years as a Man Utd predator

United now have three of Europe’s most exciting young frontmen in Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.

But perhaps they were sending a long-distance hint to top transfer target Jadon Sancho when they posted a clip of Solskjaer’s three-touch strike in training.

Alongside a video of the 47-year-old swiftly manoeuvring the ball onto his right foot for a curler into the top-corner, United wrote: “The boss has still got it” – followed by smile and goal emojis.

And with a Red Devilish twist of humour the tweet added: “@Mike_Phelan_1”.

Poor Phelan, now Solskjaer’s assistant manager, only bagged three as a United player from 1989-1994.

That compares to Solskjaer’s 126 in 366 games from 1996-2007 at Old Trafford.

And many of the Norwegian’s main contributions came from the bench, most notably the winner against Bayern Munich in the 1999 Champions League final when he and fellow sub Teddy Sheringham struck in stoppage time after United trailed 1-0.

Now, though, Solskjaer’s focus in attack is recruiting back-up for his on-fire first-choice trio.

United have reportedly still not ruled out landing Borussia Dortmund’s Sancho this summer.

But the Bundesliga giants insist the 11-cap England star will stay in Germany at least another season.

That’s especially as United have so far only been willing to pay around £70milion of the £108m asking price up front.

Sancho himself has insisted he is just concentrating on Dortmund and the Three Lions.

Asked if the transfer speculation would fade away, he replied: “No, the media’s the media.

“They’re always going to try and create a story, but this is how you manage it.

“For me, I just focus on my football. I just want to do what’s best for my team and win titles at the end of the day.”
