Watch raging Anderlecht boss Vincent Kompany scream at his own fans after they throw flare at Club Brugge ace Mignolet

VINCENT KOMPANY let rip at his own Anderlecht fans as they threw a flare at Club Brugge keeper Simon Mignolet.

Anderlecht lost the match 2-1 and during stoppage time, a fan decided to launch a flare at the former Liverpool goalkeeper.

A flare was thrown into Mignolet’s penalty area as he went to take a goal kick
It then exploded with a bang, causing the ex-Liverpool star to jump
Vincent Kompany berated the supporters behind the goal

Kompany, who left Manchester City in the summer to become Anderlecht player-manager, was clearly annoyed by the actions of the crowd and pleaded with them to refrain from throwing any more objects on to the pitch.

He angrily gestured towards them and slapped his hand on the Anderlecht badge on his shirt, seemingly gesturing that they remember that they represent the club.

He then put his arm around Mignolet, who had earlier jumped back in horror as the flare exploded inside his penalty area.

Anderlecht had taken the lead against the league-leaders but Brugge turned it around late in the second half, increasing the frustration of the home side.

ROCKY RETURN

The defender’s move back to Belgium in the summer brought an end to an 11-year spell at City, where he won the Premier League four times.

Injuries plagued the centre-back towards the end of his City career and the opportunity to return to Anderlecht was too good to turn down.

The 33-year-old initially joined the club in both a playing and coaching role but a poor start to the season saw the Belgian side appoint Franky Vercauteren as manager to allow Kompany to focus on his role as a player.

Anderlecht are 25 points off leaders Club Brugge, having won just six of their 22 league games this season.

Kompany continues to lead by example on and off the pitch.

The Belgian’s charity ‘Tackle4MCR’ has helped helped reduce homelessness in Manchester by 37 per cent.

After his Manchester City testimonial, Kompany announced he would donate all the proceeds to the charity.
