West Ham agree 4m transfer fee to re-sign injured Darren Randolph from Middlesbrough to replace calamitous Roberto

WEST HAM have agreed to re-sign former keeper Darren Randolph from Middlesbrough after their disastrous experiment with Roberto.

David Moyes is keen to firm up the Hammers back line after conceding 32 goals in the Premier League this season.

West Ham are set to welcome Darren Randolph back to the club from Middlesbrough

It is one of the worst defensive records in the top flight and has resulted in them dropping several points already this term.

Ireland keeper Randolph, 32, left East London in 2017 to join the Riverside for 5m, where he signed a 4-year contract and according to the Guardian, he is set to return as cover for Lukasz Fabianski.

The stopper has been recovering from a thigh injury and is expected to be crocked for another fortnight.

But that has not curbed West Ham’s interest, while they look to put Roberto, 33, on the transfer list.

The Spaniard has featured in one win in 10 games this season since joining from Malaga, the Hammers’ 2-0 Carabao Cup victory over Newport County, which was his only clean sheet.

Elsewhere the Irons have been looking at a shock move for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, who has been valued at over 100m.

Benfica’s Gedson Fernandes remains a player they are also interested in, along with Manchester United.

According to reports, the Hammers have already held preliminary talks with his advisers and the Portuguese has family living in London.
