West Ham and Rapid Vienna fans throw URINE at each other as visiting supporters storm home end after Declan Rice goal

WEST HAM and Rapid Vienna fans launched bottles of URINE at each other as clashes marred the Europa League win for the Premier League side.

Rapid supporters attempted to storm the home section of the crowd as they completely lost control when Declan Rice fired the Hammers into a first-half lead at the London Stadium.

The fan clashes occurred just seconds after West Ham had taken the lead through Declan Rice

But even though order was restored by police and stewards, missiles were being thrown at each other by morons throughout the game.

And sickeningly, that included bottles of water emptied by supporters and then filled with urine which were launched randomly in the air.

Stewards and police found themselves drenched by the fluid as it landed and splashed over anyone in the vicinity.

Police have so far made three arrests – and more could follow.

Two of the supporters were nicked for assaulting an emergency worker at the London Stadium, understood to be an officer.

Stewards and police were caught in several physical battles with the Rapid fans as they attempted to storm the West Ham section of the ground.

It was during one of these when the assault is understood to have taken place, while another was arrested for carrying an offensive weapon.

The incidents, which also included Vienna’s own supporter liaison team being ejected from the ground after clashing with authorities, are sure to be investigated by Uefa.

Trouble had been simmering between the two rival fans from even before kick-off.

The visiting support began antagonising West Ham fans prior to a light show which was celebrating the London club’s first home game in the Europa League.

With the ground in virtual darkness, several water bottles were launched between the two sets of supporters separated by a three-metre gap in the corner of the ground.

Once the lights had come back up, the throwing stopped for a period – but after around 20 minutes of action, occasional missiles were being exchanged between rival fans.

OUT OF CONTROL

Then when Rice opened the scoring on 28 minutes, it sparked wild celebrations and taunting from the Hammers fans – which caused fury among the Vienna group.

The travelling supporters hopped over the advertising hoardings and tried to rush the Hammers fans, with as many as 30-40 attempting to break through.

Stewards fought desperately to hold them back before being joined by police as the authorities just managed to get the situation under control before it turned into chaos.

In the melee, giant water bottles used on water coolers were being launched at each other with other objects being thrown.

Missiles were also thrown at Hammers star Aaron Cresswell as made his way to just in front of the Vienna fans to take corners before half-time.

Trouble resumed after the game as visiting fans attempted to break out of their section out into the home stands, while bottles were again thrown by a group of Hammers fans staying inside the stadium.

Then further trouble flared when home security clashed with visiting officials from Vienna, dressed in club clothing, who appeared to be supporter liaison officers.

One in particular caused fury with stewards holding him against a wall under the stands demanding he be arrested.

Eventually tempers cooled but the group of staff were ordered to be thrown out of the stadium rather than wait around for police – who by which time had been forced to move outside in two groups armed with riot gear.

David Moyes said: “Look, we want to be a club regularly in Europe and because of that we want to behave correctly. 

“I don’t know who started it but we don’t want that reputation, we want to be seen as a club who can travel to Europe and everybody welcomes us.

“I was aware of some things being thrown.”
