, ‘You’re s***’ – Ben White claims ‘little kids’ mocked Arsenal for forking out £50m on him & that his dad HATES football

BEN WHITE has revealed little kids told him “You’re s***” after his £50million move to Arsenal.

The Gunners splashed out to sign the England defender from Brighton last summer.

Ben White started Friday night’s win over Crystal Palace at right-back

In Prime Video’s All or Nothing Arsenal series, White revealed that he took some stick immediately after the transfer.

He said: “I’ve got some little kids absolutely giving me stacks, they were mugging me right off.

“They were like ”£50million? You’re s***.”

White, 24, also revealed how he got into football, despite his dad not being in love with the beautiful game.

He added: “It’s weird because my family don’t like football.

“They’ve never played it. Dad hates it. He would never, ever watch a game.

“It was actually someone who my mum used to cut hair for [who got me playing]. She would come out in the garden with me and she would get in goal and I would boot the ball at her.

“That’s where it all started, really.

“I don’t think I was ever talented, like ‘special’. I’ve just worked so much harder than everyone else.”

White went on to admit that he has matured in recent years.

He explained: “Being at a big club like this, you can’t slip, you can’t have bad days.

“It is tough mentally. I have high standards. I don’t need anyone to tell me when I have not done so well, I know.

“I used to be very up and down emotionally, but as I have grown up, I think I am at a level where I can be okay with whatever happens.”

White made 37 appearances in all competitions during his debut season at the Emirates, primarily in central defence alongside Gabriel Magalhaes.

He started Friday night’s Prem opener at right-back in place of the injured Takehiro Tomiyasu – with William Saliba stepping in at centre-back for the 2-0 win at Crystal Palace.
