VALTTERI BOTTAS starts in a rare pole position for Sunday’s Portuguese Grand Prix.
The Mercedes ace finished 0.007sec ahead of Lewis Hamilton who will start in second place in the Algarve today.
Max Verstappen was third, nearly 0.4sec down on the Mercedes cars ahead of the big race.
The Dutchman will be desperate for a repeat of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix where he overtook Hamilton in the first corner to pick up a comfortable win last time out.
