Backstage Talks "Always Happen" in the Paddock, Says Villeneuve

Formula One legend Jacques Villeneuve has opened up about secret talks that take place between rivals in the F1 paddock. The revelation comes after sensational rumours surfaced, suggesting that Mercedes superstar Lewis Hamilton sent someone to approach Red Bull team principal Christian Horner regarding a shock swap.

Villeneuve Recalls Similar Incidents During His Glory Years

Villeneuve, who enjoyed success during his time in Formula One, revealed that backstage talks between drivers and teams were not uncommon. He stated that while drivers are not allowed to talk to other teams while under contract, these discussions "always happen." Villeneuve mentioned that sometimes drivers may use intermediaries to protect themselves.

Hamilton Denies Rumours, Calls Horner's Claims "Stirring Things"

In the lead-up to the season finale in Abu Dhabi, Christian Horner claimed that a member of Hamilton's camp had approached him about a possible switch to Red Bull. However, both Hamilton and his team principal Toto Wolff quickly shut down these claims. Hamilton vehemently denied the rumours and accused Horner of "stirring things."

It remains to be seen how this saga will unfold, but for now, it seems that the rumours of a potential Hamilton-Red Bull swap have been put to rest.
