HISTORY will be made this weekend when the Iron Dames compete at the Totalenergies 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps.

Sarah Bovy, Michelle Gatting, Rahel Frey, and Doriane Pin will become the first all-female team to enter the prestigious and gruelling race for 25 years.

Both drivers and machines are tested to the limits as they race day and night in the latest chapter of this season’s FIA World Endurance Championship.

Now the Iron Dames, part of the Iron Lynx team, are aiming to follow on from a historic weekend at Monza, where they became the first women to qualify in pole and the first ever to finish in the podium places on the iconic Spa track.

Bovy is still riding high after recently becoming the first ever female to secure pole position at an FIA World Endurance Championship race.

And 18-year-old French racer, Pin, is set to further increase the female involvement in this year’s GT World Challenge, joining Bovy, Gatting and Frey at the event.

The Iron Dames are used to turning heads, and opinions, at every race they go to as they continue to prove that gender should not be a barrier in motorsport.

And with their eye-catching bright pink Ferrari, the prestigious 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium is another opportunity for them to show everyone exactly what they can do as they aim to go one better than their best result and win their class.

Iron Lynx Team Principal, Andrea Piccini, said: “For many reasons, we are very much looking forward to this year’s 24-hour race at Spa-Francorchamps.

“Spa is such a famous circuit, and the Iron Dames will be making their debut, as well as being the first all-female line-up in the race since 1997.

“It is something that Sarah, Michelle, Rahel and Doriane can be extremely proud of.

“We’re also thrilled to have Doriane onboard for this race, and we are sure she will learn a lot and gain plenty of experience from the regular Dames drivers, as she continues to progress her career.”

The Iron Lynx team is returning to defend their crown with two Pro category entries.

The No.51 car will be driven by Miguel Molina, Nicklas Nielsen, and James Calado, with the championship leading No.71 being driven by Davide Rigon, Daniel Serra, and Antonio Fuoco.

Piccini added: “GT World Challenge is also an important campaign for us, and we look to maintain our early season success with Davide, Daniel, and Antonio, as well as Miguel, Nicklas and James in the sister car.

“As the current title defenders, we can’t wait to arrive on track and push harder than ever to repeat last year’s success.”

The 2022 Totalenergies 24 Hours of Spa will take place from 30 – 31 July.
