Jermaine Jenas in Talks for New TV Role After MOTDx Cancellation

, Jermaine Jenas in Talks for New TV Role After MOTDx Cancellation

Former Footballer Jermaine Jenas Eyed as Formula E Presenter

Jermaine Jenas, the former Tottenham and Newcastle midfielder, is being considered for the lead presenter role in Formula E coverage in the UK. This news comes after MOTDx, the show he fronted, was recently axed by the BBC.

TV Portfolio

Since retiring from football in 2014, Jenas has built an impressive TV portfolio. He has worked as a football pundit for TNT Sports (formerly BT Sport) and is a regular guest on Match of the Day and co-host of The One Show.

MOTDx Cancellation

MOTDx, a spin-off version of Match of the Day aimed at a younger audience, was recently cancelled by the BBC. A BBC spokesperson expressed gratitude to everyone involved but stated that the show will no longer continue.

Branching Out into Motorsport

The Race has reported that Jenas is being considered for the lead presenter role in Formula E coverage. However, fans of the electric car version of Formula 1 have expressed their dissatisfaction with this potential move.

Fan Reactions

Fans took to social media to voice their opinions on the news. One user criticized Jenas for his lack of experience in motorsport and accused him of being in it for the perks and money. Another expressed frustration at the thought of having to listen to Jenas as a Formula E presenter. A third questioned his technical knowledge of the sport, given his background as a football pundit.

Formula E's Search for a New Broadcast Host

Formula E is currently looking for a new broadcast host after its two-year deal with Channel 4 came to an end. The sport's main challenge is gaining exposure in the UK, as many races were only available through live streams on Channel 4's YouTube channels last season. TNT Sport is expected to secure the new contract, but this may result in fans being alienated by the paywall.
