Hamilton's Apology
Lewis Hamilton, the F1 star, has issued a heartfelt apology after colliding with team-mate George Russell at the start of the Qatar Grand Prix. Hamilton attempted to overtake Russell on the first lap but misjudged the corner, causing both cars to spin off the track. Hamilton's rear tire flew off, ending his race immediately.
Russell's Respectable Finish
While Hamilton's race came to an unfortunate end, Russell managed to recover and finish in a respectable fourth place. The crash was deemed a racing incident, but Hamilton took full responsibility for the collision.
No Hard Feelings
Despite the disappointment, both drivers showed sportsmanship and shared a hug after the race. Russell posted a video of their interaction on social media, emphasizing that there were no hard feelings between them. He praised the team's strong performance throughout the weekend and expressed his determination to regroup for the next race.
Challenging Conditions
The extreme heat at the Losail Circuit in Doha took a toll on several drivers. Esteban Ocon vomited in his helmet during the race, while Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant needed assistance to exit their cars due to the intense conditions. Lance Stroll also sought medical attention out of concern for dehydration.
Verstappen's Victory
Max Verstappen secured his third consecutive driver's title in the sprint race on Saturday. Hamilton is still in contention for second place in the standings, trailing Red Bull's Sergio Perez by 30 points.
The next race will take place in Texas, United States, in two weeks.
