Lewis Hamilton Fined for Walking Across Qatar GP Track After Crash

€50,000 Fine for Hamilton

Formula One star Lewis Hamilton has been hit with a hefty €50,000 fine for walking across the race track following his first lap collision with rival George Russell at the Qatar Grand Prix. However, half of the sum will be suspended on the condition that Hamilton avoids making the same mistake for the remainder of the year.

Collision with Russell

The incident occurred on the opening lap of the race when Hamilton, driving for Mercedes, crashed into Russell. This unfortunate collision forced Hamilton to retire from the race, while Russell managed to persevere and finished in fourth place despite damage to his own car.

Full Responsibility and Apologies

After the race, the seven-time world champion took full responsibility for the crash, stating that he was trying to overtake both Russell and another competitor but ended up in an "unfortunate situation." Hamilton acknowledged that he had the worst tire among the drivers around him, which caused him to take a big risk. He apologized to his team and to Russell for the incident both in a post-race interview and on Twitter.

Lavish FIA Gala in Baku

Meanwhile, despite ongoing political tensions between Azerbaijan and its neighbor Armenia, the FIA (International Automobile Federation) plans to proceed with its lavish end-of-year gala in Baku.

Verstappen Claims Victory

Max Verstappen emerged as the race winner, followed by Oscar Piastri of McLaren and Lando Norris in third place, completing the podium.
