Lewis Hamilton heads out on golf course with NFL legend Tom Brady as F1 star relaxes ahead of Miami Grand Prix

LEWIS HAMILTON was given some FORE-some news as he teed off with NFL legend Tom Brady ahead of this week’s Miami GP.

The seven-time world champion was joining Brady in a PR golf event ahead of the GP – where Hamilton complained his swing was a little rusty.

Tom Brady hit the longest drive of 278 yards but his shot hooked the ball left onto an adjoining fairway.

It comes after a wretched start to the F1 season, where he has struggled with pace, been beaten by his teammate George Russell AND had a bouncing car to contend with.

But Mercedes boss Toto Wolff is hoping his team have found ways to improve Hamilton’s car for this weekend’s showpiece race in the United States.

Wolff, who saw Hamilton endure one of his worst weekends even in Imola to finish 13th, said: “Since we returned from Italy, we’ve learned as much from the weekend as we can and, in parallel, our learning has continued in the wind tunnel and simulations.

“We have found several directions for improving the car, and we will be conducting experiments in Miami to correlate those simulations, and hopefully confirm the development path for the coming races.

“This team has shown its resilience over many years and the difficult start to this season has lit a fire within every team member, determined to put it right.

“The saying ‘smooth seas do not make good sailors’ comes to mind.”

Brit Hamilton had one his mind partly on his tough 2022 on the track with some of his self-deprecating jibes out on the golf course with Brad, running back Marcus Allen and Brandon Okpalobi.

After claiming he’d not played for three years, Hamilton ruefully watched one of his efforts and joked he’d be sticking to ‘driving on the track’

But his most telling comment came when he landed a pitch shot just a few feet away in the closest-to-the-pin event.

The 37-year-old smiled as he said: “Finally, I’m going to win something this year.”
