SIR LEWIS HAMILTON spent the jubilee weekend back home in the UK visiting family and friends.

He also took a trip on the underground for the first time in years and thoroughly enjoyed swapping cars for the tube.

Hamilton also spent the weekend visiting friends and family

Hamilton, 37, revealed he has missed the London streets and shared a glimpse of his adventures around the Big Smoke on Instagram.

He posted a video on the social media platform showing him at High Street Kensington and Notting Hill station, while also posing for photos with London Underground staff.

The F1 star captioned the post: “Had such a great weekend with family and friends.

“Walked around London and got on the tube last night which is something I hadn’t done in years.

Next Hamilton travels to Azerbaijan and it appears he is looking to getting back on the track at the Baku City Circuit.

The Mercedes star needed some time off to relax and re-energise as he has endured a tough season so far.

Hamilton has just one podium to boast off and issues with the car have plagued him throughout.

As a result he sits sixth in the overall standings, behind team-mate George Russell.

Away from racing he has also been embroiled in an ongoing dispute with the FIA over rules banning drivers from wearing piercings and jewellery.

Despite his struggles Hamilton is still enjoying racing and has no plans to stop any time soon.

He said: “Why should I stop?

“Let’s take this season: I probably won’t win the title, but I feel the same pleasure of competing as when I started.

“Maybe one day I won’t be able to take the pressure anymore, I’ll be tired, but that day hasn’t come yet.”
