Lewis Hamilton invests in NFL team Denver Broncos as F1 legend expands portfolio with 37-year-old nearing retirement

FORMULA ONE superstar Lewis Hamilton has expanded his portfolio by investing in the Denver Broncos NFL team.

The seven-time world champion, 37, has joined the American side’s ownership group this week.

The Broncos finished fourth last season

And Hamilton’s winning expertise has gone down a storm with the new Broncos’ owners, the Walton-Penner family.

They believe Hamilton, who has a reported net worth of £224million, can transfer his success on the F1 track to a role with the Colorado side.

And fans of the Brit are sure to keep a close eye on the Broncos’ fortunes this season after their fourth-place finish last term.

Rob Walton said: “We’re delighted to welcome Seven-Time Formula One World Champion Sir Lewis Hamilton to our ownership group.

“He is a champion competitor who knows what it takes to lead a winning team and a fierce advocate for global equality, including in his own sport.

“With over 100 race wins, Lewis is considered the most successful F1 driver of all time.

“His resilient spirit and standard of excellence will be an asset to the ownership group and the Broncos organisation.”

Hamilton is already a huge lover of that part of America, owning an amazing mansion in the Colorado mountains.

He also has a stunning penthouse in New York.

Hamilton’s decision to join the Broncos comes after he formed part of Sir Martin Broughton’s failed bid to buy Chelsea earlier this year.

Hamilton and tennis legend Serena Williams each pledged £10m to Broughton’s takeover offer.

But they ended up losing out to American investor Todd Boehly.

In 2020, Hamilton also started his own all-electric racing team to help raise awareness in climate change.

He signed up to the all-electric Extreme E championship, which kicked off in 2021.

And Hamilton named his team X44 – after his car number in F1.

In 2018, the Brit launched his own clothing line with Tommy Hilfiger.

And a year later Hamilton also created a vegan restaurant called Neat Burger.
