Lewis Hamilton pays tribute to Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman as he claims pole for Belgian GP

LEWIS HAMILTON has claimed pole position for tomorrow’s Belgian Grand Prix, after setting a track record.

The Brit finished a whopping 0.511 seconds quicker than team-mate Valtteri Bottas.

Hamilton paid tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman

It will be an all-Mercedes front row tomorrow

And he dedicated his performance to actor Chadwick Boseman, who tragically passed away this morning.

Award-winning Black Panther actor Boseman, beloved by fans across the world, was just 43-years-old.

Hamilton, 35, told Sky Sports: “Today, a very clean session. Every lap was getting better and better.

“It’s a very important pole to me – I woke up to the saddest news of Chadwick passing away.

“It’s been such a heavy year for all of us. But that news broke me.

“He was such a shining light. Wakanda forever.

“I just wanted to come out today and drive to perfection.”

After his incredible performance, Hamilton added: “We’re not the strongest in the first and last section but we’re good in the middle section.

“I wanted to go out first, in the clean air, and it worked out perfectly.

“Turn 1 has been a weakness in the last few years, but I was really good there and I’m happy with that.”
