SIR LEWIS HAMILTON is hoping to pick up his fourth win in the Monaco Grand Prix this weekend.
Hamilton, 37, is yet to win a race this season and has only finished on the podium once in six races – in the first Grand Prix of the year in Bahrain.
But he believes anything could happen at Monaco, describing the race as a “lottery”.
The seven-time world champion believes luck is needed to come out with a win and that means Mercedes could be a dark horse.
Hamilton told Sky Sports: “It’s just a lottery of a Grand Prix.
“You need to be lucky, you need to position yourself right in all parts, from practice, qualifying, setup, putting all the pieces of the puzzle together.

“There are so many more elements and I think that’s all magnified, that one race, more so than any other race.
“It’s an iconic race. I feel like I’ve had the ability to have won it more often, as so many drivers have, but I just count myself very fortunate to have had the three wins that I do have there and I’d like to extend it to four… I’ll try.”
Hamilton may be feeling quietly confident after enjoying some newfound speed in the Spanish Grand Prix last week.
The Brit finished fifth but could have won a lot more points had he avoided a collision with Kevin Magnussen that sent him to the back of the race with a punctured tyre.

A win for Hamilton means he would jump above his former team-mate Nico Rosberg, who first introduced him to the course aged 13.
He would also move ahead of British greats Sir Stirling Moss and Sir Jackie Stewart, who have each won three times on the circuit.
But despite Hamilton’s optimism Mercedes chief Toto Wolff believes the chances of success are low.
Wolff said: “Monaco in the past wasn’t our most happy place.
“Maybe because the car was the size of an elephant!
“I will be curious to see where we are this weekend.
“My expectations are lower than any other circuit… it’s going to be a learning point at least, to bring us back into the game.”
