Lewis Hamilton snub as Red Bull chief claims Brit Lando Norris is only driver in same league as F1 champ Max Verstappen

LEWIS HAMILTON has been dealt another snub by Formula 1 chief Helmut Marko.

Last month the outspoken German incredibly claimed Hamilton should have RETIRED after the Abu Dhabi controversy that saw him denied the F1 title.

Now Marko has written off Hamilton’s chances this season saying he is some way off his big rivals.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc leads the standings, four clear of defending champ Max Verstappen.

Speaking to Auto Motor Sport, the 79-year-old said: “The only driver I see coming into this battle in terms of talent is [Lando] Norris.

“But he doesn’t have the best material at the moment.”

Hamilton has himself admitted that he’s out of the Championship race already after his dismal 13th place finish at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

A major mishap by former F1 race director Michael Masi saw Red Bull’s Verstappen clinch his first world title.

And Red Bull’s advisor Marko quipped that Hamilton made the wrong decision to continue racing following his nightmare.

Marko joked to Sky Sports: “I mean, he was lapped by us, so maybe he should have stopped last year.”
