Lewis Hamilton snubbed by Mason Mount as Chelsea ace throws support behind F1 star’s rival Max Verstappen

CHELSEA forward and F1 fan Mason Mount has revealed his support for Red Bull over Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes

The Blues attacker went to Silverstone earlier this month to watch Carlos Sainz’s victory at the British Grand Prix.

Red Bull’s Verstappen leads the drivers championship ahead of Charles Leclerc

Hamilton secured an impressive third, with championship leader Verstappen down in seventh.

Yet despite the disappointing result for the defending champion, Mount remains a fan of Red Bull.

Speaking to the Chelsea’s official website, he said: “I was lucky enough to go to another F1 race.

‘It was my second race of the summer, at Silverstone, and I was also able to go to Wimbledon.”

He then went on to add: ‘The tennis and F1 are obviously two different sports, but you can learn and you can take things from them so it’s brilliant to see them.

“I’ve been with Red Bull the last few times I went to a race so I’ve been supporting them and they’ve been doing very well recently, so hopefully that continues.”

Verstappen currently leads the drivers championship as he bids to defend his 2021 title.

The Dutchman holds a 38-point advantage over Charles Leclerc after 11 races of the 2022 season.

Seven-time champion Hamilton is down in sixth and without a victory this year.

But Mercedes have shown improvements in recent weeks, with Hamilton securing podiums at the last two races in Britain and Austria.

Meanwhile, Mount is gearing up for the new season with Chelsea.

Thomas Tuchel‘s side have flown to America for their pre-season tour where they will face Club America, Charlotte and Arsenal.

Their first game of the Premier League campaign then comes at Goodison Park on Saturday, August 6 when they travel to Frank Lampard’s Everton.
