Verstappen's sister could have been the first female F1 star
Max Verstappen, the two-time world champion Formula One driver, has revealed that his younger sister Victoria-Jane had the same amount of talent as him when they were children. The 25-year-old racer believes that Victoria could have become the first female F1 star but lacked the motivation to pursue it.
Driving talent runs in the family
Max Verstappen and Victoria-Jane both come from a family with a strong racing background. Their father, Jos Verstappen, is a former F1 driver who represented teams like Benetton, Arrows, and Minardi. The siblings, who used to race as children, were introduced to the sport at a young age by their father.
Victoria's lack of motivation
Although both siblings showed talent on the karting track, Max Verstappen revealed that his sister was never as motivated as him. He recounted instances where their father would spend days preparing everything for Victoria to drive, only for her to lose interest after a few laps. Verstappen believes that his sister had the potential and talent but simply didn't want it enough to dedicate herself to the sport.
"She liked it but not enough to fight for it, be fit, be ready. That's fine, as long as you realize that," said Verstappen. He acknowledged that his father would have supported Victoria's racing career if she had shown more determination and passion.
A different path for Victoria
Despite not pursuing a racing career, Victoria-Jane has found her own path in the industry. She runs her own clothing brand called "Unleash the Lion" and works closely with her brother. Victoria is also in a relationship with Tom Heuts and they have two sons named Luka and Lio. The family often attends F1 events together, including the recent Dutch and Belgian Grand Prixs.
