Michael Schumacher Update: Two Mistakes Revealed a Decade After Ski Crash

Journalist Uncovers Critical Errors That Led to F1 Legend's Accident

After ten years of silence, new details have emerged about the day Formula One legend Michael Schumacher had his life-changing ski accident. ARD journalist Jens Gideon visited the scene of the fall in the French Alps, where he spoke to a local skiing instructor named Andre. The conversation revealed two grave mistakes that played a role in the tragic incident.

Not Enough Snow: The First Mistake

According to Andre, there wasn't enough snow on the ground the day of Schumacher's accident, making it an exceptionally dangerous day to ski. The lack of adequate snow meant that more rocks were exposed, leading to a higher risk of injury. Andre believes this was the first crucial mistake made that day.

Camera Footage and Consciousness: The Second Mistake

Andre also shared that he saw the crushed helmet at the scene and noticed a camera still attached to it. While the camera footage has never been made public, Andre and Jens claim it proves that Schumacher was still conscious after hitting his head. This revelation suggests that first responders may have underestimated the severity of his condition. Andre considers this the second mistake that was made on that fateful day.

Delayed Airlift and Medical Treatment

Andre revealed that Schumacher's health worsened during the helicopter ride to the hospital in Moutiers. He lost consciousness and had to be intubated. It was only after the helicopter landed that the decision was made to fly him to a larger, more specialized hospital in Grenoble. Andre believes that if this decision had been made earlier, Schumacher could have received the necessary treatment three minutes sooner. Instead, he was put into a medically induced coma that lasted 250 days.

A Decade of Silence and Secrecy

Since the accident, Schumacher has remained out of the public eye, with his family and close friends sworn to secrecy. A family lawyer has been involved to protect their privacy. Felix Damm, the Schumacher family lawyer, believes that this approach has been crucial in safeguarding the Formula One legend and his family.

Concerns About Schumacher's Health

Formula One journalist Roger Benoit recently described Schumacher as "a case without hope," drawing criticism from fellow racing legend Johnny Herbert. Herbert revealed that Schumacher is "not close" to his former self and that updates on his health are scarce. The lack of positive news has been difficult for Schumacher's friends and fans.

Corinna Schumacher's Perspective

Schumacher's wife, Corinna, spoke about their life in the Netflix documentary "Schumacher." She emphasized that although Michael is different now, he is still here and gives their family strength. She expressed the importance of maintaining their private life and allowing Michael to enjoy it as much as possible.

As the world continues to wait for updates on Michael Schumacher's condition, these new revelations shed light on the mistakes that may have contributed to his life-changing accident.
