The girlfriend of reigning MotoGP champion Francesco Bagnaia was left in tears after her boyfriend suffered a terrifying crash during the Catalan GP. Bagnaia, who was leading the race, was thrown from his bike and then inadvertently run over by two of his rivals while lying on the track.
Injury and Support
After collapsing to the ground, Bagnaia received immediate medical attention. Meanwhile, his girlfriend, Domizia Castagnini, was understandably distraught and consoled by a member of Bagnaia's team, Ducati. Bagnaia and Domizia have been together for around seven years.
Bagnaia's Condition
Following the crash, Bagnaia was taken to the hospital for further treatment. According to MotoGP Medical Director Dr. Angel Charte, Bagnaia suffered severe polytrauma, with a motorbike running over his femoral and tibial area. X-rays revealed a small injury that could be either current or old, so an urgent CAT scan was required to determine the extent of his injuries.
Positive Messages
Despite the terrifying incident, Bagnaia showed his resilience by sharing a picture of himself from the hospital with a thumbs-up gesture. He expressed his gratitude with the caption "Today I can only say thanks." The MotoGP star received an outpouring of support from fans and fellow racers, including Fabio Quartararo, Luca Salvadori, MotoGP, and Marc Marquez.
