‘Thanks for sharing Silverstone with me’ – Classy Lewis Hamilton invites three youngsters to watch British GP in style

LEWIS HAMILTON displayed his class yet again after treating three promising young drivers to a front-row seat at Silverstone.

The Formula One superstar invited Joshua, 12, Miles, 11, and Cordell, 11, to be his guests at the British Grand Prix earlier this month.

Classy Hamilton thanked the youngsters for joining him after their VIP treatment

A video showed the trio being blown away by their A-list treatment as Hamilton, 37, secured special VIP passes for one of the world’s top races.

The whiz kids, following in Hamilton’s footsteps by becoming karting aces, were shown around the Mercedes pit by knowledgable staff.

They were then taken out onto the track to get a taste of the atmosphere.

And their grand day out concluded with a close-up view of the action in some of the top seats.

Hamilton was more than happy to create a special memory for the wannabe F1 stars as he finished third behind Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez.

He said: “This year I invited these three talented drivers to Silverstone.

“I can’t thank enough all the people who helped me in my journey, it’s so important to pay that forward, support young talent, and work to ensure that the future of motorsport is more diverse than the present.

“Joshua, Myles and Cordell thank you for sharing Silverstone with me. Proud of all of you.”

The kids are all karting prodigies, just like Hamilton was before he went into F1

Hamilton also invited the trio to reveal their own plans for the future.

Joshua said: “Last year I got the [lap] record at Rye House, a 41.64.

“I started driving at nine years old. I went for a play date and there was a club going on, a six-week course, and so I started that, finished the six-week course, found a team and started from there.

“My motto is ‘always forward’.”

Miles declared: “It all started in 2019. My first time was at Buckmore, tried it out and came seventh. It was a good start. [Now] I’ve won more than 60 trophies.

The trio loved every moment of their all-access adventure

There was even a visit to the paddock before the kids watched the race close-up

“When I first started karting I’d been watching a bit of F1. I’d seen how they drive and I wanted to be like them one day.”

Cordell added: “One of my favourite dreams is to become a Formula 1 driver.

“When I was a baby I enjoyed Formula 1 and when I turned six my dad got me into racing.

“I’m currently karting and I do three championships. One being at Buckmore, one being at Rye House (where Hamilton used to compete) and one being at Club 100.”

Back on the F1 grid, Hamilton followed up his homecoming performance at Silverstone with another third-place finish at the Austrian GP.

And after a poor start to the campaign, he is confident his Mercedes car is finally starting to improve.

Hamilton revealed: “Honestly, I do feel like every now and then our qualifying pace looks like we could have been in the top three, and obviously with the crash that wasn’t possible.

“And then completely new car, everything, strips, new chassis, obviously same engine but changed the gearbox I think, all the corners, everything.

“And then that, you firstly don’t want to damage the car again, the car definitely didn’t feel exactly the same as what I had on Friday, but very, very close and it just seemed to get a bit better as I got more dialled in with it.”
