Watch Lewis Hamilton sky dive in Dubai as Mercedes star takes break from F1 and enjoys ‘rest day’

LEWIS HAMILTON showed he’s more than just a whizz behind the wheel with a daredevil solo sky dive over the weekend.

The F1 star, 37, took his mind off a disappointing start to the season by thrill seeking in Dubai.

Hamilton landed safely back on earth after the dive

The seven-time world champ posted a picture to Instagram alongside Mercedes employee Angela Cullen

In a video posted to Instagram, Hamilton is seen diving out of a plane wearing just a t-shirt, shorts, and a blue helmet for safety.

The seven-time world champion somersaulted through the air above the desert in Dubai without the aid of an instructor.

And after safely landing back on firm ground, Hamilton shared a high-five with his sky diving partner.

He jumped alongside social media star Naila and Angela Cullen, who works for Hamilton’s Mercedes team.

Posting a picture to his Instagram story before the jump, Hamilton wrote: “Rest day, best day!!” in anticipation for the dive.

With the F1 calendar taking a break this weekend, Hamilton had some spare time on his hands.

Hamilton made the most of a well-earned day off

After back-to-back races in Qatar and Saudi Arabia, racing does not return until next weekend in Melbourne.

And with Mercedes struggling for pace this year Hamilton faces a near-impossible task to land a record eighth world title at the end of the season.

Hamilton sparked fears he could quit F1 after admitting to fans he was “struggling mentally and emotionally”.

He also revealed it has been a “constant effort to keep going” at times.

Fans have been left fearing Hamilton may give up on winning a record breaking eighth world title, which would see him surpass Michael Schumacher, after bravely opening up on his mental struggles.

One said on Twitter: “I’m gonna call it. Hamilton will retire at the end of this season.

“That is, if he makes it to the end. His heart is not in it anymore, he doesn’t have the best car and he has too much going on outside of F1.”
