A New Look for a Golf Star
Last summer, a former Ryder Cup legend shocked fans with his unrecognisable appearance. The golfer, known for his impressive career on the PGA Tour, was spotted on the Champions Tour sporting a wild hairdo and a striking moustache. The drastic change left fans stunned and wondering who this mysterious golfer could be.
A Surprising Bet
It turns out the unruly hair had a rather unexpected origin. The golfer, Jesper Parnevik from Sweden, revealed that the new look was the result of a bet. Parnevik explained that he had made a wager that he wouldn't cut his hair until he won another tournament. However, since he hasn't played since September, the hairstyle had gotten out of control.
Dad's Approval, Wife's Disapproval
While Parnevik's father loved his son's fresh appearance, his wife was less than thrilled. "For some reason he has been a little bit upset the last 25 years when I shaved it," Parnevik shared. "So he's actually really happy about this one. My wife, not so much."
A Return to Normalcy
Fortunately for Parnevik's wife, he has since decided to ditch the curly locks. At a recent event, the Ascension Charity Classic, the golfer was seen with a much more groomed appearance. His hair was cut short, and the moustache had been replaced by a grey beard.
A Golfing Career
Parnevik, now 58 years old, had a successful career in professional golf. He achieved 15 professional wins, including five on the PGA Tour. Since 2015, he has been playing on the Champions Tour, which is exclusively for male golfers aged 50 and over. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Parnevik represented Team Europe in the Ryder Cup, becoming a hero for his team and winning the prestigious tournament twice.
