Ernie Els’ Daughter Makes a Name for Herself in Rugby

Following in Her Father's Footsteps

Samantha Els, daughter of golfing legend Ernie Els, has made a name for herself in a completely different sport. While her father was a four-time major champion in golf, Samantha has found success in rugby.

From Golf to Rugby

Samantha, now 24, only took up rugby five years ago but has quickly risen through the ranks. She was recently selected to represent the Springbok Women, South Africa's national rugby team.

A Winning Debut

Samantha made her international debut for the Springbok Women in a warm-up match against the San Clemente Rhinos. She started at lock and helped lead her team to a 22-17 victory.

A Proud Dad

Ernie Els couldn't be happier for his daughter's success in rugby. He took to Instagram to express his pride and congratulate Samantha on wearing the Springbok colors.

Friendly Rivalry

While there is a healthy bit of sporting rivalry between Samantha and her father, they both support and encourage each other. Samantha enjoys joking with her dad about her new rugby status compared to his golfing achievements.

A Supportive Family

Samantha credits her parents, especially her father, for their unwavering support as she pursued rugby. She values the lessons she has learned from her dad's champions' mentality.

An Unexpected Journey

Samantha's journey from golf to rugby was unexpected, but she has found her passion in the sport. She is grateful for the opportunity to represent her country and hopes to inspire others.

A Multitalented Family

In addition to Samantha's success in rugby, the Els family has also made an impact off the field. They launched the Els for Autism charity in 2009, dedicated to raising awareness and providing support to individuals with autism.
