Penny Grice-Whittaker, a former professional golfer and winner of the Women's Open in 1991, has had a diverse career. Not only did she dominate the golfing world, but she also showcased her knowledge on the popular British quiz show, The Chase.

Rise to Golfing Stardom

Grice-Whittaker burst onto the golfing scene in 1985 and quickly made a name for herself on the Ladies European Tour. With her first win at the Belgium Open in 1986, she set a course record of 17 under-par, proving her exceptional skills.

Achievements and Accolades

As her career progressed, Grice-Whittaker racked up an impressive list of accomplishments. She claimed the prestigious Women's British Open title and also won the Hisiki Ladies Queensland Open during her time on the Australian Ladies Professional Golf Tour in 1992.

Retirement and Rediscovery

Despite her success on the golf course, Grice-Whittaker made the difficult decision to retire in 1998, citing a loss of passion for the sport. She took a 21-year break from golf but quickly found a new passion in music.

From the Green to the Stage

In the early 2000s, Grice-Whittaker pursued a singing career and joined the female musical duo Bits-n-Pieces. She entertained audiences with covers of popular hits by Elvis Presley and Kylie Minogue, showcasing her versatile talent.

A New Chapter

After enjoying her time in the music industry, Grice-Whittaker decided to transition into a more traditional career. She became a postwoman, working for Royal Mail and delivering mail to households across the UK.

Quiz Show Triumph

In 2021, Grice-Whittaker made a memorable appearance on the beloved British quiz show, The Chase. When asked about her occupation, she proudly revealed her past as a professional golfer, leaving host Bradley Walsh and the audience in awe.

During her time on the show, Grice-Whittaker's golfing prowess proved to be beneficial as she contributed £4,000 to her team's jackpot, showcasing her competitive spirit.

Although she may have left the golfing world behind, Penny Grice-Whittaker continues to inspire with her diverse talents and tenacity in embracing new challenges.
