Golf fans in hysterics as Tom Kim falls in mud before going topless after wayward shot into creek at PGA Championship

GOLF fans were left in stitches after Tom Kim waded through a muddy creak looking for his ball at the PGA Championship.

The South Korean, 20, was on the sixth hole when he skewed a tee shot into a swampy area.

Tom Kim covered himself in mud while searching for his ball

Golf fans found Kim’s messy episode hilarious

But that did not stop him from trying to find his ball as he drenched himself in mud during the search.

It was to no avail as Kim’s grim escapade ended without his ball being retrieved.

And he was then forced to take off his top and put a jumper on for the remainder of his round – which he finished with a score of three over.

But he ended the day with a few more fans as the clip of him getting himself dirty went viral on social media.

He ended up taking off his t-shirt due to the mud

One person said: “Might as well go for a swim at this point.”

Another added: “We need more characters in golf like Tom Kim. He’s such a legend
.”

And a third replied: “I love this kid…hope he can make the cut.”

After being told the incident had been aired on the live broadcast, Kim said: “Are you kidding me? Unbelievable. And all for a ball.”

He went on to add: “It’s a major championship and I’m fighting for every single stroke. It could be the difference of me having a chance to win on Sunday or making the cut.

“I was told it was in the mud. And if I’m able to hit a shot, I’m doing everything I can to do it. So I definitely tried. But it was very unfortunate. I couldn’t even find the ball.

“Once my foot went in, there was no looking back. As soon as my foot went in, it was kind of sketchy. I had to crawl, use every part of my body to get out.

“It couldn’t get any worse. I was wet enough, so I thought I might as well just go in the water and wash myself off.

“It’s pretty embarrassing. But I wouldn’t change it for the world because I don’t regret anything I did. I think I would have regretted it more not trying to go in there. Every single shot matters so much to me.”

Bryson DeChambeau was the overnight clubhouse leader at the PGA Championship on four under, one shot clear of Scottie Scheffler.

McIlroy finished on one over, with Masters champion Jon Rahm 10 shots off the pace on six over.
