I shoot pigs and turkeys when I play badly and butcher them myself… now I’m leading The Open

Brian Harman is leading The Open at Royal Liverpool

Harman, 37, has never won a major, with the most recent of his two PGA Tour titles having come all the way back in 2017.

The Savannah, Georgia-native gushed “I love it over here” while talking to Sky Sports after his stunning 65 effort today.

His positivity is a far cry from how he felt after missing the cut at The Masters earlier this year.

A keen hunter, Harman chillingly admitted to killing two animals on his Georgia farm such was his rage at missing out at Augusta.

He said: “I went, and I killed a pig Friday night at my farm, and I killed a turkey Saturday morning.

“I didn’t hit any balls until I got here Tuesday.”

Harman has posted a number of images of himself posing alongside dead animals on social media.

The golf pro’s Instagram account is littered with hunting pictures, featuring a smiling Harman alongside dead elk and even a deceased alligator.

On the eve of The Open, Harman was asked why he doesn’t win more on the PGA Tour.

He said: “I think about it a lot, obviously. I’m around the lead a bunch. It’s been hard to stay patient.

“I felt that after I won the tournament and had the really good chance at the U.S. Open in 2017 that I would probably pop a few more off, and it just hasn’t happened.

“I’ve been right there, and it just hasn’t happened.

“I don’t know. I don’t know why it hasn’t happened, but I’m not going to quit.”

How To

Five Easy Steps to Lower Golf Scores

  1. Start with the right equipment. It’s important to have the right equipment. The best way to find out what type of club you should use is to take lessons from someone who knows how to play golf. Ask around at the local driving school if there isn’t anyone you know who plays. They may even give you an instructor’s lesson for free if they like to see new faces.
  2. Practice makes perfect. This is obvious, but practicing is the best way to improve your game. You don’t have to play with friends or alone; practice is vital. It doesn’t matter if you practice alone or with friends; it is important to keep track. You can keep track of all the things you do, so you can see which areas you are making progress and which ones you still need to improve.
  3. Play more. At first, you might feel that you spend too much on your golf gear. This will make it difficult to get out there enough. You’ll soon find you enjoy the game and you’ll be able to get back into your routine. Your next step is increasing your play frequency. Try to play three times per week (or every other day). You should aim to play at least one round of 18 holes per week and two rounds (9 holes) each week.
  4. Eat well. A lot of people think that they’re doing their bodies a favor by skipping breakfast and eating only after lunch. This is not healthy. You should eat something before you leave your house. In order to be healthy, you should have small snacks with protein, carbohydrates and fat. A light meal containing lean proteins and vegetables can be prepared when you arrive at your course.
  5. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids. Drinking lots water can prevent dehydration from leading to muscle aches and headaches. Additionally, water helps to keep your body hydrated which is essential for peak performance.
