Former PGA Tour player Robert Damron labels incident in charity golf event as "vile"
Golfer Robert Damron has vowed to never take his wife back to a golf course after a "vile" incident during a charity golf event. Damron, who has made £5 million in career earnings, was participating in the Ascension Charity Classic at Norwood Country Club in St. Louis last week when the incident occurred.
Wife accidentally drops car keys down a porta-loo
While Damron was playing on the course, his wife accidentally dropped their car keys down a porta-loo on the eighth hole. It wasn't until he finished his round and was ready to leave that she informed him of what had happened.
Keys found after searching through filth
In an interview with the PGA Champions Tour, Damron described his performance on the course as "crappy" and struggled off the tee. However, things took another turn for the worse when his wife confessed to dropping the keys in the porta-loo. Despite searching with a sanitation worker, they couldn't find the keys. However, the keys were eventually found and returned to Damron later that night.
Keys now considered a biohazard
Damron showed off the recovered keys, which were placed inside a plastic bag, calling them a "biohazard." He humorously stated that they would never be touched by human hands again and will remain in the baggie.
Golfer jokes about not bringing wife back to the course
Damron took to X (formerly Twitter) to describe the incident as "vile" and jokingly stated that the keys were found at the bottom of the worst filth imaginable. He even joked that they may have to buy a new car. In another post, Damron thanked Ascension for their understanding and patience and concluded by saying he will never bring his wife back to St. Louis again.
Despite the unusual turn of events, Damron, who won on the PGA Tour in 2001, remains in good spirits and was able to make light of the situation.
