Another added: “Please tell me this is real.”

Woods, 47, has still been feeling the effects of his devastating February 2021 car accident – in which he suffered two fractures in his right leg and a shattered ankle.

He subsequently made a miraculous return to action, although he missed the cut at St Andrews’ last year amid walking struggles.

Woods carded 69 during yesterday’s opening round – finishing the day’s action with a trio of birdies.

Content with his performance following his long lay-off, Woods said: “I happened to actually hit some good shots finally and made a couple of putts.

“Even though I had a little mishap at ten, I was able to fight back and get it going. It was a nice finish.”

He then added: “There’s nothing like come game time just the feeling of the butterflies and trying to calm all that stuff down.”

How to Improve My Putting Skills?

As you practice your putting game, there are many things you can do to make yourself a better putter. First, get great instruction from someone who has experience. Check out our article on how to find instructors who are willing to teach you golf. Once you’ve found someone you like, ask them if they offer private lessons. Make sure to examine their schedule so that you don’t accidentally book something that isn’t compatible with another lesson.

If you’re looking for a pro shop where you can rent clubs, try one of these shops: Golf Galaxy, PING, TaylorMade, Titleist, Callaway, Cobra, Ping GOLF, Wilson, Nike, FootJoy, Scotty Cameron, and many others.

Next, you need to start practicing after receiving instruction. There are two ways you can go about this. The first is to buy some putters and start practicing hitting the balls into the holes. This is a great option because you can use different types putters (long and mid irons, wedges, and wedges) depending upon which type of shots are most appealing to you. But, unless your equipment is expensive, you will not be able practice enough to improve your putting skills.

You can also practice online by playing mini games. Some websites allow you to compete against other players worldwide, while others let you practice your skills. Putt-Putt is a game where you need to hit a ball in a hole. Other sites include TopGolf, StrokePlay, and even Wii Sports Club.

Once you’ve practiced enough, you can move onto the next phase of improving your putting game. This would be improving your technique. To achieve this, you will need to work on three aspects of your putting stroke: grip, alignment and stance.

Stance is the distance you are from the ball when you approach it. Beginners often make the common mistake of standing too close to a ball. Your body should not be in direct contact with the ball when you are addressing it. Your feet should be approximately shoulder-width apart, slightly bent.

You should have your hands open and relaxed. You should not hold on to anything or clench your fists. Instead, place your hands on top of your shoulders.

Your arms should not be locked down, but straight. They should be free throughout the whole putting stroke.

Alignment refers to how much your hips rotate as you swing through the shot. Many people rotate their hips so much that it is difficult to align properly. Your knees will bend slightly when you face the shot. Your hips will turn toward target as you swing through shot.

Grip refers simply to the way your fingers position themselves on the clubface. Many people have difficulty gripping the club properly. Your index finger should rest on your bottom edge while your middle fingers should rest on your top edge. Your ring should be placed on one side of the shaft. Your pinky finger should not be over the handle.

You may also want to consider buying a new putter. While it’s true that all putters aren’t created equal, if you’re having problems with your current putter, you might find that a new model helps improve your game.
