But an awful back nine including two bogeys, a double bogey and an eight on the par-four 17th ended his chances.

He slipped on the 13th tee and saw his ball roll up next to a crate of beers belonging to a crowd member on his way to carding a seven.

DeChambeau, 27, carded a final-round 77 and finished on three over par in a tie for 26th place.

And female pro Spiranac admitted she felt bad for Bryson as his tournament fell apart.

She tweeted: “I feel bad for Bryson. We’ve all been there with golf and it’s a horrible feeling.”

But the social media personality hailed champion Jon Rahm and a brilliant tournament in California.

Paige said: “This was an amazing US Open. Great venue, drama, meltdowns, fans back, and Rahm winning! What. A. Tournament.”

Spiranac recently trolled DeChambeau’s golf swing and has also labelled him ‘disingenuous’ and ‘annoying’ in the past.

DeChambeau shrugged off his final-round meltdown but bemoaned a lack of luck at Torrey Pines.

He said: “Right now. I don’t even care. People think that I’ve changed a lot, attitude-wise and everything.

“It’s frustrating in the moment when it’s happening, but afterwards for me now, I don’t really care as much. I’ve already won it.

“I knew going into the week that was going to be my game plan. I had to be a little lucky, and I was for the first three and a half days and just didn’t get lucky on the last nine.

“Nobody understands, at least if you play professional golf, major championship golf. A lot of it is luck.

“I didn’t get off the rails at all. It’s golf. People will say I did this or did that, and it’s just golf.

“I’ve had plenty of times where I hit it way worse than today and I won.

“It’s just one of those things where I didn’t have the right breaks happen at the right time.”
