Procedure Confirmed by Woodland's Team
PGA Tour star Gary Woodland has undergone surgery to remove a lesion from his brain, his team has confirmed. The procedure took place on Monday, and a statement was posted on Woodland's social media accounts confirming that a "majority of the tumor" was successfully removed. Woodland is now resting following the surgery.
Decision Made After Treatment Attempts
The 39-year-old golfer revealed in August that he had been diagnosed with the brain lesion earlier this year. Initially, Woodland attempted to treat the symptoms with medication. However, after consulting with specialists and discussing with his family, they made the decision to proceed with surgery to remove the lesion.
In Good Spirits with Supportive Team and Family
In a statement released last month, Woodland expressed gratitude for the love and support he has received. He said, "I'm in good spirits with my family and team by my side and so thankful for the love and support of everyone."
A World of Golf Accomplishments
Gary Woodland has been part of the professional golfing community since 2007 and earned his PGA Tour card in 2009. He has won four championships throughout his career, including the 2019 US Open, which marked his first major victory. Woodland triumphed over Brooks Koepka by three strokes. Sadly, that same year, Woodland and his wife Gabby experienced the loss of one of their baby twins due to complications in her pregnancy.
