Gainey was arrested in a massive prostitution sting dubbed ‘Operation Santa’s Naughty List’

Gainey, 44, who has a wife and two young children, was arrested last December and faced a first-degree misdemeanour charge but will avoid time behind bars and instead serve an 11-month probation.

The American must also perform up to 100 hours of community service and pay fines and fees worth 4,790.

He could see his probation period reduced if he meets the requirements of the deal quickly.

Gainey shot to fame on the Golf Channel’s Big Break show in 2005.

He became somewhat of a fan favourite with his unusual swing and preference for wearing a glove on each hand while playing.

Gainey has made more than 5million in his golf career and won the 2012 McGladrey Classic on the PGA Tour.

But he lost his playing rights on the lucrative top tier and had join the Korn Ferry Tour – golf’s equivalent of the Championship.

He broke his duck when winning the Bahamas Great Exuma Classic last month and could regain his PGA Tour card for next year.

Gainey made reference to the prostitution case in his victory speech.

He said: “With the injuries that I’ve been through, the other troubles that I’ve had… I’m very lucky and very blessed. This means everything.”
