Tiger Woods’ Career Rankings Hit All-Time Low Due to Injury Woes

, Tiger Woods’ Career Rankings Hit All-Time Low Due to Injury Woes

Tiger Woods' Struggles

Tiger Woods, the legendary golfer, has reached his lowest-ever career ranking as he continues to battle with injuries. The 15-time major winner, now 47 years old, has been out of action since April when he withdrew from the Masters during the third round. This extended period of inactivity has resulted in Woods plummeting to 1,307th place in the Official World Golf Rankings, published on Monday. It surpasses his previous career-low ranking of 1,294th, which occurred nine months ago.

A Downward Slide

After a T-45 finish at the Genesis Invitational, Woods had managed to climb back into the top 1,000 before the Masters. However, his absence from the sport for the past seven months has caused him to slide down the rankings once again. This decline in his career ranking is a reflection of the challenges Woods has faced as he continues to battle injuries.

Injuries Taking a Toll

Woods has been plagued by injuries in recent years, with some directly resulting from a car crash in 2021. His most recent fitness issue was with his right ankle, although he has confirmed that it has now been resolved. In a statement to the Associated Press, he mentioned that his ankle is fine and that the pain from the fusion surgery is completely gone. However, other parts of his body have become more susceptible to issues due to compensating for the ankle injury.

A Golfing Legend

Tiger Woods is widely regarded as one of the greatest golfers of all time. He has won 14 majors between 1997 and 2007, including a historic fifth Masters title in 2019. Woods also holds the record for the most weeks spent as World No1, with a staggering 683 weeks at the top. From June 2005 to October 2010, he dominated the sport as the highest-ranked player for over five years.
