Vijay Singh pulls out of Korn Ferry event after being labelled ‘piece of trash’ and ‘complete turd’ by fellow pro

VIJAY SINGH has pulled out of a golf tournament after being labelled a “piece of trash” and “complete turd” by a fellow pro.

Former Masters champ Singh faced a backlash when he entered the first tournament back on the second string Korn Ferry Tour in the US.

Singh was blasted by a fellow pro for choosing to play in the Korn Ferry event he has now pulled out of

That circuit is used by players trying to make the step up to the PGA Tour.

Singh, 57, is eligible to play in any Korn Ferry Tour event he wants – but his decision to enter was blasted by one pro in particular, who delivered a blistering tirade on social media.

In a series of now deleted tweets, Brady Schnell, 35, who competes on the second-tier tour, posted: “Hey @VijaySinghGolf you are a true piece of trash if you accept money playing in a Korn Ferry Tour event and I’ll say it right to your face.

“Do you know how much those points and money could do for a young kid?

“He’s a complete turd for playing. He’s got his money and he’s got his career. Just wait another month and roll with your senior friends.”

‘COMPLETE TURD’

Fijian legend Singh has made £57.5million on the PGA Tour – the fourth most of all time.

By comparison, last year’s Korn Ferry No 1 Xinjun Zhang of China pocketed just under £703,000 over the season.

The PGA Tour confirmed last night that three-time major champ Singh had pulled out of the Korn Ferry Tour Challenge, which is set for June 11-14 at TPC Sawgrass in Florida.

Schnell has since apologised for slamming Singh – who was backed in his original decision to play by Phil Mickelson.

He said: “I said some disrespectful things towards @VijaySinghGolf and for that I am truly sorry!

“A different approach should have been taken in order to get my point across.

“I will learn from this and be better! I’m looking forward to getting back to work and playing some golf.”
