Watch as Tiger Woods’ drive lands in a fan’s JACKET POCKET in his first tournament since The Open

A TIGER WOODS drive incredibly ended up in a fan’s jacket pocket as the star returned to golf on the PGA Tour.

The sporting legend has had far from a quiet week but was back to making headlines for his golf on the 13th hole of the Genesis Invitational.

Tiger Woods drive ended up where no one quite expected it

Woods, the lucky fan and a PGA official attempt to work out exactly what has happened

But instead of it being a typical Woods masterclass shot, the 47-year-old instead found his effort veering wildly off-target after his swing.

The wayward drive went into the crowd and somehow ended up in an unknowing fan’s jacket pocket.

A video shows the moment golf officials and Woods descended on the fan who was in disbelief at what had happened.

The fan said: “I pulled off my jacket and it fell right there. [I was standing] right here, I haven’t moved.”

Woods is then instructed where to take his shot, with the fan taking the moment to say “thank you, Tiger.”

The 15-times major champion responds: “You got it. Thank you.”

The fan then jokes that he wished the ball had dropped out of his pocket in a more favourable position for Woods.

He later told interviewers: “Well, I mean I followed Tiger the last two days and I know he’s going to hit to the right.

“So I was telling all these guys around me ‘Tiger’s going to hit over here.’

“All of a sudden he hit and nobody knows where it went. And all of a sudden I look and I had this bump in my pocket.

“It just dropped in, I didn’t even know. What are the odds? I am stoked.”

That wayward shot aside, it’s been an encouraging few days for the golfer on his first PGA tour start since July 2022.

But he finds himself well off the pace with Jon Rahm leading Max Homa by three shots.

He’s also had to apologise over a row that erupted when he handed fellow golfer Justin Thomas a tampon as a practical joke.
