JAMES DOYLE Cached in a Guineas double to land his second British Classic the day after his very first.
Just 24 hours after he steered Coroebus to win the 2000 Guineas, he rode Cachet from pillar to post to hand George Boughey his first Classic in the 1000.
James Doyle and George Boughey celebrate their 1000 Guineas victory with Cachet
For Boughey, just 30 and in his third season training, it was a day to remember and a leap into the big time for the Newmarket young gun.
Most people Boughey’s age spend their Bank Holidays in the beer garden, Boughey’s was a bit different.
Cachet broke best under Doyle and led from the off. As the field entered the dip she still went well but the threats were looming.
Boughey watched on with a grimace as Ralph Beckett’s Prosperous Voyage motored through the final stages. Yet Cachet stuck on to the line and held on by just a neck and Boughey leapt into the air.
