‘Absolute mayhem’ breaks out as two jockeys ride the same horse in chaotic Ludlow pile-up

An incredible scene unfolded at Ludlow Racecourse as two jockeys found themselves riding the same horse in a chaotic pile-up. The incident occurred during a mares' novice hurdle race on Thursday, resulting in three jockeys hitting the ground. Fortunately, all jockeys involved were able to get back on their feet after the dramatic incident.

Collision and confusion

The chaos erupted when David Bass was thrown off his horse, Von Hallers, after apparently clipping heels with another horse while rounding the home bend. Meanwhile, the race leader, Faha Belle, veered off course and crashed through the running rail, causing jockey Daire Davis to be ejected from the saddle. In a remarkable turn of events, Davis ended up literally riding another horse, Kit's Coty, for a brief moment.

A fleeting partnership

For a split second, both Tom Bellamy, the designated jockey for Kit's Coty, and Davis found themselves sharing the same horse. However, the situation quickly unraveled as Bellamy was unseated and crashed to the ground, while the remaining horses thundered past him.

Stay tuned for more updates on this extraordinary incident.
