Andre Fabre suggests that Earthlight could step up to a mile in Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood

ANDRE Fabre has hinted that Earthlight could add further stardust to next week’s Sussex Stakes.

The leading French trainer watched his top-class colt win easily on his reappearance at Deauville last weekend.

Earthlight could run in next week’s Sussex Stakes

He is still unbeaten in six starts, having also won last year’s Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket.

And Fabre is keen to step him up to a mile, meaning he could be in line for a potential clash with Kameko, Siskin and Mohaather.

Fabre said: “We haven’t totally decided yet. He could go to Goodwood, but if not he will go for the Maurice de Gheest.

“He’s very fast and looks a real sprinter, but I’m convinced that he can go further.

“I think it was a good decision to split him and Pinatubo up last time and it will be up to Sheikh Mohammed where he runs.”

It was confirmed on Monday that top Irish jockey Colin Keane will travel over to Goodwood to ride Siskin in the Group 1 contest.

Keane and Lyons will travel over to saddle the Irish Guineas hero and will have to quarantine for 14 days on returning to Ireland.

Keane said: “There are not too many like Siskin that I’ve got to sit on before, so when a horse like that comes around you want to be on him everyday – especially on the big days.

“It’s definitely worth sacrificing the two weeks. Hopefully there’ll be other championships in the future, but there might not be another Siskin for a very long time, so I want to take every opportunity.

“He’s been great since the Guineas, he looks a million dollars and we couldn’t be happier with him. We’ll keep him wrapped up and it’s about getting him there in one piece.”
