ROGER Charlton’s Aspetar ran out a cosy winner of the Sky Bet York Stakes on the Knavesmire.
The 11-1 chance was kept in the rear throughout, as the fancied pair of Telecaster and Elarqam cut out the running.
But jockey Jason Watson timed his move well and the five-year-old moved into contention powerfully.
He stayed on well to fight off the brief challenge of Fox Chairman, with Lord Glitters plugging on for third.
A Group 1 winner last year in Germany, Charlton’s horse remains lightly-raced for his age and a domestic Group 1 will be next on the radar.
The bookies were also impressed and Paddy Power reacted by cutting him into 8-1 for the Juddmonte International back at York.
