Baaeed: Surprise race revealed as possible next target as fans left asking ‘where will he run next?’

BAAEED left the racing world wanting more with his jaw-dropping Juddmonte win.

But in the wake of victory, everyone was left wondering where the unbeaten superstar will go next.

Baaeed’s owner Sheikha Hissa will decide where the horse runs next before a lucrative career at stud

Fans were pleading for trainer William Haggas and owner Sheikha Hissa to enter him in the Arc de Triomphe.

That would see Baaeed step up another two furlongs in trip and do battle in one of Europe’s richest races.

A big ask for any other horse, but Paddy Power immediately made him 5-4 favourite non-runner money back.

In the immediate aftermath of victory it was all but confirmed the horse would run on Champions Day at Ascot in October.

However, in a new interview on Thursday morning, Haggas appeared to throw the options wide open – with a shock possible target.

When and where will Baaeed next run?

Great question. The answer? At the moment, no one knows for sure.

But there are three definite contenders – including a brand new option that has thrown a real spanner in the works.

While the Arc was all but ruled out and Champions Day all but nailed on to be his next race, Haggas said his stable star could go to Ireland for the Champion Stakes.

He told Nick Luck the race at Leopardstown on September 10 would be a ‘perfect fit’.

Run over 1m2f, that would set up a mouthwatering clash with Coral-Eclipse winner Vadeni.

Haggas said: “Ultimately it’s Sheikha Hissa’s decision where he runs.

“I’m open to suggestions. It was always the plan to go to Ascot but plans can change.

“I’m not saying they’re going to… but it’s nearly two months to Champions Day and that’s quite a long time.

“Joe Foley is talking about it [running in Irish Champion Stakes], he was texting me yesterday not to forget him! He is on the committee at Leopardstown.

“That’s the perfect fit if he was to have another race.

“That’s up for discussion. We’ll see what happens but he’d have to be in pretty rude health to be going to Ireland.”

What race could Baaeed end his career in?

Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown on September 10 (1m2f)

Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp on October 2 (1m4f)

Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot on October 15 (1m2f)

What are the odds?

Baaeed is 3-1 to win the Irish Champion Stakes, 5-4 non-runner no bet with Paddy Power to win the Arc and 1-2 to win the Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot.
