Hi, what are you looking for?

THERE are enough hurdles in racing without adding any extra ones, so when Fakenham was called off because of the gale warnings it made total sense.

I was due to ride there yesterday, but they decided it was too risky to chance it, with the forecast of such high winds.

Bryony is heading to Wincanton for two rides on Saturday

The biggest concern was the chance of debris flying around. It’s a dangerous sport at the best of times, without throwing anything else into the mix.

It’s makes sense to keep our powder dry and wait for the weather to settle down again.

Talking of keeping dry, that was out of the question at Lingfield this week, when there was standing water everywhere. It was so wet you couldn’t find the bottom of the ground.

The saddle slipped on Éclair De Guye, and I didn’t get beyond the first on Code Name Lise, who made things worse by standing on me too.

When the doctor came over and asked if I was alright, as I was just sitting on the ground, I told him: “I’ve had better days.”

Like I’ve said so many times, it’s all about ups ’n downs, and on Thursday it was one ride, one winner, when Cut The Mustard went in at Leicester. It was her first time in a tongue tie, only a small field and just lovely for her to burst through the line like she did.

Wind permitting, I’m off to Wincanton for a couple today, and I’m looking forward to both of them.

GRIVETANA (1.38) has her first run since coming to the yard  from France, where she was very impressive, in the novice hurdle.

She’s a feisty, fiery mare with a lot of toughness about her.

Then MR GLASS (3.58) has a nice weight for the handicap hurdle and the way he jumped when I schooled him this week, he is definitely a chaser in the making.

There was one hurdle when I thought there was another stride to be taken, but he was like “look what I can do” and took it with ease.

He clearly enjoys showing off, and quite right too if that’s what they have underneath. We will actually be up against another old friend of mine in Trincomalee, who is in the same race, so let’s see how we go.
