Bryony Frost: I’m riding a real talent in the bumper at Warwick, this horse could be special

HAPPY New Year one and all!

The action never stops and as always, the racing comes thick and fast over the festive period.

Our columnist could have a future star on her hands at Warwick

But before we get cracking I have to give the spotlight to Frodon.

I could not have been happier with his run in the King George.

We came third in one of the most iconic races in the calendar and we went down fighting and kicking the only way we know how to.

I knew going down to the start we were going to have a good day.

He’s started this habit where he pulls his head to grass at the start for a quick snack!

I have no control, he could pull me over his ears any second, but I know he is in game mode. He left nothing behind.

The younger legs then played their cards and Bravemansgame was just brilliant to hand the trophy to Paul Nicholls yet again. He’s phenomenal!

Bravemansgame is such an athlete. He put his stamp firmly on a talented field and he is giving the yard something to really look forward to come March time.

My weekend starts at Warwick with Tiny Tantrum in the opener. I know him well, he stays well and looks on a handy mark.

I ride Dersy Social for Lucy Wadham in the mares’ novice. She’s a big, strong mare at home but is making her debut today. We’ll see what engine she has.

Then in the bumper I’m riding for Laura Horsfall, someone I get on well with from my point to point days.

And in Much Too Dear she has a real talent on her hands. He has had two runs at the track and that should hold him in good stead. His last run was behind a smart horse which holds good form.

Don’t Tell Su will be one of our dangers as they think a lot of him at home.

My New Year’s probably won’t be as exciting as yours! I will definitely be in bed way before midnight.

I’ve got an early start off on the road to Fakenham tomorrow so it will be early to bed for an early alarm. Here’s hoping we can kick 2023 off in style.

So Happy New Year, and as always, stay safe and keep kicking!
