, Bryony Frost in tears as she admits fearing for her safety amid ‘bullying’ row with Robbie Dunne, BHA panel hears

BRYONY FROST feared for her safety after fellow jockey Robbie Dunne made angry threats last year.

Leading rider Frost, 26, broke down as she testified at Dunne’s disciplinary hearing in London yesterday.

Frost alleged Dunne said he ‘promised to hurt’ her

Frost alleges Dunne, 36, bullied her over a sustained period of time and confronted her last September after his horse had suffered a fatal fall.

She recalled: “He said that he promised he was going to hurt me and put me through a wing (of a fence).

“He said it to me in such a way that I believed him.

“There is only so much you can take.”

Frost, a Cheltenham Festival-winning jockey, also said she felt “isolated” after making an official complaint about Dunne, who she alleged took off his towel and ‘shook himself’ in front of her.

The jockey did not receive support from fellow riders after alleging Dunne was bullying her, as they felt the issue should have been handled within the weighing room.

Some leading riders voiced their displeasure at Frost taking her allegations to the BHA, the disciplinary panel heard.

Among them was Tom Scudamore, and Frost explained how her relationship with him had broken down over the last year.

In the aftermath of making her complaint to the BHA, her rides dried up and she was ostracised by her colleagues in the weighing room.

She was visibly emotional on several occasions during the hearing and described how other female riders were afraid to speak out.

She said: “The isolation I felt for speaking out — I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

“Since this has come out Mr Scudamore hasn’t spoken a word to me.

“We used to share lifts to and from the races but we have not shared a word. He has not spoken to me.

“I could be wrong but you are asking me for my opinion and they — the other female riders — have to go into the weighing room every day.

“I feel they are protecting themselves and, rightly so, staying neutral.”
