BRYONY FROST’S dad has blasted racing’s bullies amid a probe into the star female jockey’s treatment by rivals.

King George winner Frost, 25, had a bust-up with another rider over a horse’s fatal fall late last year, according to The Times.

That row is believed to be the foundation on which the British Horseracing Authority are carrying out their investigation.

Frost, who rocketed to superstardom after winning the Boxing Day showpiece on Frodon, has spoken of the negative treatment she has received from those inside the sport.

She admitted going about her daily business has been a ‘struggle’.

Now her father Jimmy, a former Grand National-winning jockey and current trainer, has hit out at the male-dominated industry.

And he said racing needs to be dragged into the 21st century because right now he would think twice about getting kids involved.

He told the Daily Telegraph: “I just think it’s a tough world at the moment to go into and it shouldn’t be.

“It should come into the 21st century, and we should look after each youngster.

“It’s probably getting to the stage where I would struggle to recommend it to a youngster.

“Bryony’s got quite a lot of young followers, boys and girls.

“I’ve got one who comes for lessons once a week.

“They want to follow that career but, listening to her sometimes at what goes on, I wouldn’t recommend them to follow that.

“It would be nice to see that change. Something needs looking at.”

Frost – who in 2019 became the first woman to ride a Grade One winner over fences on Frodon at Cheltenham Festival – cannot speak too much of the concerns due to the ongoing probe.

But she told the Racing Post: “At the minute it’s really hard for me to talk about.

“I’m not allowed to say much because it’s in the hands of the BHA. They have taken control of it and for the moment I can’t say any more.

“In time I will talk about it because it concerns something that must be improved for our younger generation.”

A BHA spokesman said: “The BHA does not comment on ongoing investigations or speculation concerning potential investigations.”
