Following a bright spell over the weekend, thousands of women donned summery dresses in vibrant turquoise and pink hues, while others opted for more subtle, floral patterns.

Short, figure-hugging dresses were among the popular choices today, while one stylish reveller made sure to stand out from the crowd in a bold patterned suit, which featured flared trousers.

Nude-coloured dresses were also worn by brave racegoers who hoped the weather wouldn’t take a turn for the worst.

But some weren’t so optimistic and wrapped up in faux fur-lined coats, with one adding a splash of colour thanks to a fuchsia pink trilby hat.

The enthusiasts, who have travelled from across the country, will be treated to seven races, with the highlight being the Unibet Champion Hurdle, a 2 mile Grade 1 race.

Day one of the event – which is one of the highlights of the British racing calendar – comes after a two year hiatus following Covid lockdowns.
