Chris Hughes cant wait for Ascot and Haydock in his latest Sun Racing column

THE wind is blowing a right old hooley and Ive got everything crossed racing will be on!

Ascots card is bursting with class and hopefully I can bag a winner or two.

Sun Racing ambassador Chris Hughes is back with more of his best bets

In the big race of the day, the Grade 1 Betfair Ascot Chase, Im shying away from hot favourite Cyrname.

Hell go off heavily odds-on and will probably get plenty of support over the course of the afternoon – and its hardly surprising given how well he jumps and travels.

However, he showed in the King George that hes beatable and Im hoping Riders Onthe Storm can see him off.

Ive backed Nigel Twiston-Davies contender ante-post for the Ryanair and Ill be looking for a big run if hes to have a chance at Cheltenham.

I think hes fellow Sun Racing ambassador Sam Twiston-Davies best chance of the week, so hopefully he can really put it up to Cyrname.

If he goes and wins, then Ive got a serious ante-post bet on my hands!

Up at Haydock, the weather is sure to be horrific and the Grand National Trial will need a horse with bucketloads of stamina.

Elegant Escape is likely to go off favourite but hes carrying a lot of weight and has to carry 11lb more than when winning the Welsh National in 2018.

I love him and his owner is a top man, but Id prefer to side with something at a bigger price.

There are some good horses in here and, realistically, any of the field could win.

Ballyoptic could be a great shout, again for the Twiston-Davies clan.

Hes a horse with tremendous staying ability and will relish the deep conditions.

Chris has been a huge fan of racing since he was very young

Another who could run a big race is Yala Enki.

Bryony Frost was fairly bullish about his chances heading into the Welsh National and he duly ran a big race.

If her confidence is anything to go by then you certainly cant rule him out, and the same can be said of One For Arthur.

Hes a former Grand National winner whos had a wind operation – and that could make all the difference.

If I had to pick one, though, Id go with Ballyoptic.

Over at Wincanton, Chtibello will win the Betway Kingwell Hurdle.

You can get 11-4 at the moment, which is an absolute steal for a very classy horse whos been there or thereabouts in his recent runs.

Hes good value and should get the better of Quel Destin.

In the Reynoldstown, I think Copperhead will get the better of Sam Brown and Pym. Put him in a double with The Worlds End in the Rendlesham and youll be laughing all the way to the bank.
